There's something magical about the musical looseness of a live kirtan.

Nobody is conducting it. It's just happening. And, you know, somebody out in the audience can change that. If somebody out there starts clapping at a certain point, the kirtan can explode in a whole different direction. To sit before that intelligence really fascinates me, to see how that works, to make the kind of music that is not based upon a plan, but in a sense finds the statue in the stone. It finds the music that's already in the people who have come. -- David Stringer, Kirtan! Chanting as a Spiritual Path

Come chant and sing with us.

What is Vishudda and Why Are We Here?

What is Vishuddha? It is the life force energy that emanates from the throat region (fifth chakra). It means purification with communication as our focus. It is from this place that we express and project ourselves. Our purpose is to purify our reality through mantra, sound, vibration, in essence, through the power of the word. It is through word that we manifest the world that we live in. It is through music that we express and experience our deepest joy and oneness. It is our intention to come together as a community to reach high and to manifest a world of Peace, Prosperity and Joy.

Jeremiah Benham, Mahan Deva and I have come together at Heaven Meets Earth for the last several months for one hour of chanting with whomever shows up. In our 2nd month, there were 12 of us, and we left completely high. Chanting is a good time, and as most of you know, extremely powerful.

In a discussion with Lisa Weber, the director of Heaven Meets Earth Yoga Studio, she reminded me of what Yogi Bhajan predicted would happen as we got closer to the Aquarian Age: that the craziness, or insanity, of todays world will increase before it gets better. She then read to me the "news" (or should I say "bad news"), right here in Evanston and the North Shore, which includes shootings and fatalities amongst our youth. She said that we need to get together as a community and take part in raising the vibration, creating a place of healing and communion. Through Lisa's words of undeniable wisdom, Jeremiah, Mahan Deva and I were inspired to come together sooner than we thought we were "ready", because, as we now see, the time is now. As Lisa reminded us, we are not here to "perform" for you, but to create an organic community through which we can heal and experience the Light that we Are through togetherness and through the incredible power of mantra.

Please join us on the 3rd or 4th Saturday of each month (dates above), 7:00 PM @ Heaven Meets Earth Yoga Studio in Evanston. We will be chanting in celebration of peace, joy and community.
A love offering of $10 is requested. Yogi Tea & Snacks will be served. Children are welcome.
